Introduction ​

Oakfield Secondary Outreach is a specialist service dedicated to re-engaging young people with education and lifelong learning. At its core is the belief that every pupil has the capacity to succeed when the right conditions are in place – those of safety, belonging, opportunity and trust.​

​The service works alongside secondary schools, families and external partners to support pupils who may be at risk of exclusion, experiencing disengagement, or facing barriers to sustained attendance. Its purpose is to provide timely, targeted intervention that restores stability, strengthens relationships and creates opportunities for young people to reconnect with their education at critical points in their journey.​

​A therapeutic and relational approach underpins all aspects of the service. Recognising that learning cannot take place without emotional safety and a sense of belonging, the work prioritises the development of trust, consistency and positive relationships. Behaviour is understood as a form of communication, and support is responsive, reflective and focused on helping pupils develop the skills needed to regulate emotions and make positive choices.​

​The service is committed to inclusion, early intervention and prevention. By working collaboratively within school environments and the wider community, it supports the creation of personalised pathways that promote engagement, reduce the risk of exclusion and enable pupils to build confidence, resilience and a renewed sense of connection to education.​
