At Oakfield, Careers Education Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) plays a vital role across the whole-school curriculum. From Year 7 onwards, students are supported through a carefully designed programme that develops their understanding of careers and future pathways.

Our careers offer includes a broad range of activities aimed at inspiring and informing students. These begin with tools such as the Future Skills Questionnaire, which encourages students to explore their interests and aspirations. This is complemented by structured lessons introducing a wide range of job roles, as well as visits and talks from colleges, training providers, and employers.

Students who are permanently placed with us are expected to take part in work experience. We encourage students to source their own placements wherever possible, as this increases the likelihood of a successful experience and helps develop essential job-seeking skills. Where students have opportunities for ongoing placements throughout the year, we are happy to support this initiative, provided arrangements are appropriate and manageable.

We strongly believe that parent and carer engagement is key to the success of our careers programme, and we warmly welcome your involvement and support.

In addition, we recognise the significant benefits that come from meaningful engagement with employers, businesses, and the wider community. These interactions help students build confidence, develop interpersonal skills, and gain valuable insight into the world of work. We always welcome new partnerships and opportunities for collaboration.
