School to School Support

From 1st October 2015, the Leicestershire Primary Outreach Traded Service has provided targeted support to schools and academies to support behaviour management and reduce the number of children at risk of exclusion in primary schools.

Overall Purpose of the Outreach Service

The Outreach Service’s primary objective is to support schools in their development of systems which enable them to manage and modify the learner’s behaviour and to work with schools to improve behaviour to secure engagement of children. It seeks to support schools in the development of strategies, coherent approaches and a culture of positive behaviour management.

The Service aim is to support schools and academies in developing their capacity to enable pupils with challenging behaviours to remain in mainstream education and achieve positive outcomes. Its goal is to reduce the number of children at risk of permanent exclusion in Leicestershire’s primary schools.

The Service provides early intervention and support for schools, building on the expertise available in Leicestershire’s primary schools and alliances through the development of a school-to-school forum, building capacity across the system.

The service offers consultancy, training, observation, assessment, practical strategies and advice for class/small group/individual settings and demonstration of inclusive practice.

Services are offered at whole school level, to Headteacher, SMT, Governors, SEN Coordinators, Inclusion Managers, NQTs, Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Learning Mentors and children with significant and complex special educational needs.
